The power of the ‘Tongue’

The tongue is one of the most powerful weapons in the human body. But among other weapons, this weapon is the only one that is very difficult to control. Here is an example of an incident.

There was a woman who was beautiful in looks, behavior and actions. That woman had only one flaw, she used to tell many lies to others with her tongue. The woman was only surrounded by loving and caring people, be it her own parents or her own life partner. But for some reason the woman kept telling others that she was an orphan and that her own parents had died in an accident. For years she kept repeating these things only to her closest friends. Suddenly the woman took a wrong decision in her life which no one expected and believed. Based on that, many things she said came to light in front of everyone. Eventually her parents came to know this and abandoned her after seeing her wrong decisions. And so she became an absolute orphan, as she said with her tongue.

One’s own tongue can make one’s life better or worse, without the intervention of others.

Similarly, I heard another story that happened. A foreign lady once visited our Kerala and saw a beautiful place there and said something. Seeing the beauty of the place, she told his friends that if she dies, she should bury in this place. Two months later the woman died and her friends buried her there.

What does our Bible say about our tongue?

Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
     and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 15:4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
     but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 21:23 Those who guard their mouths and their tongues
     keep themselves from calamity.

We should try to make it a habit to speak only good things from our tongue. We should not be the cause of the problem in our life without knowing it. All we have to do is use the power of your tongue to get some special gifts in life for ourselves and others.
