There is a God who is not forgotten by anyone. Father and mother on earth may have abandoned us. Those who thought they were their own. It may have gone away. Lovers may forget. If your father on earth dies, your heavenly Father is will hold hands. When no one comes to the rescue heavenly Father is helpful. When you close your eyes there is a God who looks on you. There is a God holding your hand when you fold your arms for praying.
15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me. Isaiah 49:15-16
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory. Psalm 73:23-24
There is a God who comes down from heaven and holds your hand when your eyes are filled with tears. Jesus holds the key to open all the doors. People will close the door in front of you. But God will open the door. If he opens it no one can close it. If he closes, no one can open it. The world does not have to be with us when we live in this world. Our strength is father, mother or children, brothers and sisters, friends or money, fame or health, not family glory. Our strength is the Lord Almighty.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26
How many times have we forgotten the God who gave us all the good fortune and guided us? Has God, who still loves us, gone away from us? No. His eyes are on us
He was looking at us. Thinking that he would return. Even Peter, one of his closest disciples, rejected Jesus when he saw that his life was in danger. But has God forgotten him? No. Jesus sees Peter on the road as the soldiers take him away.
The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” Luke 22:61
The eyes of Jesus, who did not forget Peter even though Peter forgot, were for Peter Thirsted. That look pierced Peter’s soul. Peter remembered the Lord’s words to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”
Jesus looked at the woman tenderly and said, “Do not sin anymore.”
Jesus did not forget Zacchaeus either.
Jesus saw the man who had climbed the tree to see him. Jesus’ gaze touched his heart. Jesus did not forget the sinful thief who was crucified with him on the cross. When he repented, he was given the privilege of being with him in Paradise. We need to know who our God is. A God who does not reject us under any circumstances. God takes us by the hand in times of crisis. God honors us in front of others.
When we sin and walk away, He looks forward to our return. God wraps us up and protects us in the day of calamity. We must weep before Jesus. There is no point in crying in front of people. If parents cry before God their children will not have to cry in front of the world. Walk uprightly. God will not forget us.
Let us believe.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless. Psalm 84:11.
